It is estimated that 150 pit bull type dogs, are abandoned or come from neglected or abusive situations, in Montreal’s shelters and pounds every month. From this number, 75% of them will be destroyed for space, health and behavioral issues or simply because they look too much like “pit bulls”
Pit Stop Montreal Rescue (PSM) is a not for profit rescue organization for pit bull type dogs based in Montreal. Founded in May 2011 with minimal resources, PSM is already running basic operations, finding foster and adoptive families and following up on the dogs’ adaptation and integration.
PSM wishes to provide an eco-friendly facility with at least 40 in-and-outdoor kennels, one resting area and one playground area with a small pool, an agility course, a sand box, 2 quarantine rooms, offices, a kitchen and other regular basic rooms would be needed.
Please register on Aviva’s site to be able to vote daily for Pit Stop Montreal. This is very much a grass roots operation relying heavily on spreading the word to help place dogs in fosters and permanent homes. These are good people with a good mission, please help make it happen.
